The Miami Heat put up eighty-six first-half scores versus the Grizzlies

The Heat claimed a decisive 146 to 114 victory against the Grizzlies in their first basketball game since guard Rozier was detained for alleged illegal sports betting.

Trail Blazers head coach Billups was additionally detained in connection with a broad FBI probe into sports betting. Both men contest the claims.

However, the Heat were not distracted as they scored eighty-six opening half scores to be ahead of the Grizzlies by thirty-nine at halftime, the largest halftime lead in the franchise's 37 year existence.

The Trail Blazers also won their first game since the arrests, with Brazilian Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Billups' absence and guiding the team to a convincing 139-119 win over the Warriors.

"We all had positive times with Chauncey and how he coached," Tiago remarked. "We're thinking of him and his family but our focus is on the game."

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver 'Disturbed' by Recent Events

Speaking about the arrests for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Silver stated he was "very upset" by the events of the past few days.

"There's nothing more important to the league and its fans than the fairness of the competition," he informed a broadcaster. "Therefore I felt uneasy. It was very upsetting."

The commissioner also said an NBA investigation into Rozier's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he participated for the Charlotte Hornets against the Pelicans, found nothing untoward.

"It was brought to our attention by the authorities and the betting companies," he continued.

"We investigated the matter and were open about it. And while there was the unusual wagering, we, frankly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can do all kinds of things that the league office can't do.

"Therefore, we've been working with them since then. And, of course, what they revealed recently was an charge.

"And two and a half years after, he has not been found guilty of anything, in justice to Rozier.

"Clearly, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance in this case between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."
