The visionary game developer, renowned for co-creating the immensely successful first-person shooter Call of Duty, has died in a car accident in California at the age of 55.

Zampella's death was confirmed by Electronic Arts, which owns Respawn Entertainment, the video game company he co-founded.

The celebrated industry figure passed away following his vehicle was involved in a crash and was engulfed in flames on a freeway in LA on Sunday, according to.
